How did you get started teaching?
My mother was the finest English teacher I have known. I loved the idea of it... even when I became successful and very busy as an actor early on in TV, I found a way to teach. I think too many acting teachers are not full time professional actors, and guru-ize one technique over another when a highly eclectic approach is required for all the various styles from TV to stage, comedy to Drama.
What types of students have you worked with?
Politicians running for Governor, CEO's, Ted Talks, Lawyers doing summations.... but mostly acting students of every level, from Stars to 8 yr olds! Love them all. I love the journey of excellence.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Go with teachers who have themselves achieved a high degree of success in the profession of acting, and have student placed in major programs, theatres and media.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
What do you want to achieve in the profession? Why do you love it? Ask what is the purpose of art, greater than yourself.
