About
THE ARTISAN ACADEMY is a "triple threat" performing arts academy offering year-round classes and workshops in singing, dancing and acting. Our programs are for ages 5 through adults of all ages. In addition to year-round classes and private lessons, we offer a full range of summer camps. Our programs focus heavily on technique-driven classes, but also include production classes/camps of all shapes and sizes, with some culminating with a full-scale musical production. Develop your child's potential to be a "triple threat" on the stage! With many class offerings to choose from, it's easy to start your child on the road to becoming a true triple threat! Take courses from industry professionals who have performed in Broadway theaters, and all over the world. Our instructors still work professionally themselves and many have advanced degrees and extensive professional teaching and directing experience, including professors from various Universities.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
We like to figure out what a student's specific needs and desires are within performance and tailor our private lessons to that. As far as classes, we talk to the student and parent about what their interests, strengths, and weaknesses are, and together we find the class with a perfect fit for them.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
As the education director, I have a bachelor's degree in EC-12 Education and a degree in Theatre Performance. Our instructors have degrees in Musical Theatre, Dance, and Music to best teach the students the performance skills they are looking for!
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
We charge $300 for semester-long classes with a $50 registration fee. For private lessons we chare $60/60 Minute lesson and $35/30 Minute lesson. We also offer discounts for paying in full, siblings, and multiple classes.
How did you get started teaching?
I started teaching theatre classes at the Artisan Academy and was trained by mentors working in the field. I have experience in public education, private education, and education through theatre organizations. All of our instructors have years of teaching experience under their belt and are skilled at understanding and catering to the individual needs of their students.
What types of students have you worked with?
At the Academy, we work with all types of students. Our classes range from ages 3 to ages 18, and everything in between. We have classes for students who have never stepped on the stage and classes for students who live on it. We have a homeschool theatre program that allows the homeschoolers in our area to put on a full-scale musical! We offer something for everyone.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
As a teacher, you celebrate every win in your classroom, no matter how small it may seem. Recently, one of our quieter students, who had never spoken in class, wanted to share an exciting story with us. Watching her gain the confidence to speak to her classmates and seeing the other students encourage her was such a beautiful moment as a teacher!
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Be open to their suggestions! They have been placing students in the right classes and lessons for a long time, so trust them! Don't be afraid to ask questions though!
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Ask about the students they've taught in the past and how they grew and where they went. Ask about the styles of music, dance, or acting they teach. Ask what a typical lesson or class looks like and how your time will be spent.
