This will very helpful in the long run.

How did you get started teaching?
Spending almost 24/7 at the dance studio practicing, I was watching how much the instructors enjoyed their job. So I approached the owner about a career in the dance business. He just laughed at me and recommended to become a successful national competitor first... then he would talk to me again about a possible 3-year training program!
After placing 2nd in the German Championship, I was accepted. Another 3 years later, I gratuated with honors before the German Dancde Teacher Assiciation.
Ever since, and despite a degree in math, I never wanred to do anything other than teaching dance! --Andy
What types of students have you worked with?
We work with all kinds of students: beginners, professionals, couples and individuals, hobby dancers, and serious competitors.
The list is long, but there is NOTHING we haven't seen or taught!
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
Being a "Danceaholic", Andy's favorite events are national competitions like Ohio Star Ball.
However, having started our own business in late 2017, we were very proud of our students who performed in DanceSport's Holiday Showcase in Houston! We had the most performances, and received the best feedback. We can't wait for the next one!
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Since dance lessons are a big investment in yourself, be sure of your instructor's qualifications. Franchises tend to hire random people off the street, but charge the full price!
Even hairdressers have to display their certificate on their table, and the prices vary according to their level of experience and training. Think about it.
Since dancing is an intimate activity, you also want to be comfortable with your instructor.
Finally, if you decide to join a franchised studio, make sure the franchise is really there for the customers--not just to collect the money.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
What do I REALLY want to get out of my lessons? Do I have specific goals or dreams?
How much COMMITMENT do I have? What amount of time (weekly) am I willing to invest in myself?
What is my BUDGET? Am I better off purchasing individual lessons, or saving money in the long run with a lesson package?
What is my TIMEFRAME? What days and times work best for me?
HOW FAR am I willing to drive? A higher-skilled professional is always worth the distance.
Am I AWARE that dancing is a skill that takes time to accomplish? Dancing engages your mind, body, and emotions together. A polished work of art (your dancing!) requires patience and commitment.
