Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I take a very simple approach to mastering your fundamentals, while allowing the time for the concepts to be absorbed. A little humor goes a long way to making the experience fun as well as comfortable!
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Oh God. Where do I start. Never stopped training myself. There's always more to learn. I have trained extensively with and trained some of the best dancers in the world. I have ALOT of experience!Firsy cl
How did you get started teaching?
It started as a hobby like most people. Just something to do to get out of the house and make friends. Then I was offered the opportunity to dance for Salsa Passion Dance Company. I was their premier dancer for 3 years, and toured all over the United States. Then I branched out on my own, I've started traveling to New York to train with the best dancers that I could find. It's too many to list in this one box. They I begin emceeing Latin festivals all over the world, and traveling and performing, and teaching amazing people!
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with everything under the sun. You're never too old to that, I will never too young to dance!
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I'm actually about to shoot a music video tomorrow for the Dallas string Quartet. They created an absolutely gorgeous Salsa song, and I'm very excited to get to play with it!
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Hide and then stopped and it fits, and is comfortable. Everyone learns different, and every instructor teachers in a different way. And periodically learn from different instructors. That will give you a different perspective on your own abilities, and it will enable you to go all in different areas. Most of all be patient. It takes years to get good at Latin dance. Don't expect to be a pro in 3 months! No instructor the world can do that, and anyone who tells you that they can..are not being honest with you!
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
I would just tell them to be patient, because the instructor is aware of their flaws better than they are. My students rarely have to tell me what they need. I already know what the problem areas are before that mention them.
