Hello future students! My name is Michaela and I'm a drum teacher. My specialty is jazz drumming (swing, latin, funk, rock). I teach beginner and intermediate students. Together we will learn how to read music, keep a consistent beat, and have fun! I have 10+ years of training and 3+ years experience in teaching drums. I teach anyone age 10 and up. You would come to my home in Lehi and learn on my acoustic set with me. I currently play for City Jazz Big Band in Midvale Utah.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
We start where youre at and work towards your goals. What do you want to play? Do you want to play in jazz band? Marching band? Want to learn to read music? How about technique? Need help in percussion class? Want to play in a rock band? I can get you started easily in any and all of these things. We will jam together, read music together, and help you get where you want to be.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have years of training and experience in jr high bands, high school bands, and jazz bands. I currently play for City Jazz Big Band in Midvale. I played in pep band, marching band, rock bands, you name it! I've studied under band teachers, music shop teachers, and professional drummer Jay Lawrence. I've traveled, competed, and enjoyed all of it.

I charge $25 a lesson.
How did you get started teaching?
My dad suggested it actually! I ended up loving it!
What types of students have you worked with?
I work mostly with kids ages 10 to 16 but have taught anyone that has asked.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Try me out! I'm fun and friendly and experienced. First lesson is free. If i'm not a good fit, i can help you find another teacher closer or better suited to your needs.
