What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I create individual plans for each student, reflecting their goals and current ability.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a Masters of Music Performance and currently sing regularly with local opera houses in the Washington DC area.
I also have a degree in popular music and jazz.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
1 hour $100
30 minutes $50
How did you get started teaching?
I started teaching as I graduated from my masters. I love teaching voice and seeing my students improve.
What types of students have you worked with?
I work with beginners to advanced students. Some prefer classical and others prefer popular music. I emphasize healthy singing and technique so the student may reach their goals in whatever genre they like to focus on.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Do a trial lesson and talk to the teacher about your goals. Ask the teacher for references if you feel you would like to hear what other students think about the lessons. If you believe it's a match, go for it.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Studying voice takes time commitment. Make sure you set aside time both for the lesson and for practicing.
