Josh's Drum Lessons
About
My approach to lessons as always be centered around the needs of the student and what is the student is wanting to learn. For example if the student has a favorite song they are wanting to learn how to play then I create a lesson plan that is designed to learn how to play that song. I beleive goals are instrumental to one's success and what they can set out to acheive which is why I like to set up goals with each of my students that we are always working towards. This also helps to monitor progress in how far that student has come along the way, which is incredibly rewarding for everyone.
In addition to teaching I am also a very active performer both live on stage and in the studio. This experience working with so many bands and artists gives me the ability to teach a very wide range of subjects as well. Some examples of things I teach are begining beats to advanced beats, rudiments, creating fill and solo ideas, playing in differnt meters (time signatures), working with a click track/MIDI, and of course playing in different styles and genres.
I believe that there is a drummer inside all of us. My hope is that I can help you bring out yours and to help you become the best musical drummer you can be.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
For new students that have had no prior experience playing drums before I start with some of the core essentials such as how to hold a drum stick, how to strike a drum, and going over the different parts of the drum set along with a couple simple beats to get things started.
If the new student has prior experience I usually just have them play a few things for me as I assess where the student is at and find out what the students goals are and set up a lesson plan from there.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a B.M. in Music Performance from Idaho State University.

I have worked with students as young as 10 and as young as 70:)
