About
I have 40 plus years as a working drummer and 30 years as a drum instructor. I taught a music program for the Bellevue school district for seven years and Donn Bennett Drum Shop for seventeen years. I pride myself with the ability to teach all ages and skill levels from Rudiment and Scottish drumming to drum kit, covering Jazz to rock and eveything in between. I teach at my studio in Renton and online teaching with Skype, Facetime ect.
I love to teach and witness my students progress.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Education on grip, posture, rudimental, scottish drumming, Rock, Pop, Big Band, Jazz combo playing, brushes, reading, working playing with other musicians.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Junior High, High School marching band, orchestra, concert band, stage band, College jazz ensemble, voted best college band by "The Stan Kenton Orchestra". Private studies with: Michael Derosier (Heart), Joel Rosenblatt ( Spyra Gyra), Billy Ward (independant), Dave Weckl ect...

Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
My lessons are $30.00 per half hour at my studio in Renton WA and I also teach at "West Coast Drum Shop" in Bellevue WA. It is the premier drum shop in the Northwest with some of the best instructors in the Northwest. The number there is 425-747-6145.
How did you get started teaching?
I started teaching privately 25 years ago, but was aproached by Donn Bennett, the previous owner of "West Coast Drum Shop" seventeen years ago and have been teaching at the shop since then.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with students from the age of 5 to 65 and begginers to pro's. Jason Finn, drummer for (The Presidents of The United States Of America) was a student of mine for a short time. He is a great drummer but was just in need of some new energy.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
Doing two concerts at the all new Emerald Queen Casino concert venue.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Find a teacher that you feel comfortable with and someone that can offer you there knowledge and experiences.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Have an idea what you are looking for as a student and make sure the instructor can answer your questions.
