Ernie started me out with a simple 4/4 beat and as I got comfortable with it he showed me how to improvise to add on extra riffs to make it more complicated and also how to alternate between the Hi-hat and Ride cymbal. He also taught me to use Dynamics in different songs for effect... I really enjoyed learning different nuances in playing and it was really fun to learn a lot of the things he discussed with me.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?

I begin by showing how to keep a easy 4/4 Beat. As the Student gets more comfortable with keeping a Steady Beat I begin to show different Styles and how to Keep a Meter and then when they beging to get a little more comfortable I start show them how too use the different drum and Cymbals and then Dianamics are ready to be shown to the Student to teach them the Importance Of using it when performing to give Depth too a song, to make the song Have Impact.. to stand out!

I have played Drums in Bands since My First Gig in 1975

.. I have done Recording and taught My self how to Play Drums, Guitar and Piano
