A. Marie Dance
About
My main goal with dance is to build confidence. Anyone can memorize a pattern or develop strength and flexibility in new ways... but it's all about making it applicable and walking away with a skill that can be used for a lifetime of enjoyment! I want to amp up your social life, give you an edge/skillset unique from other individuals, and even set you up to persue your own dreams with dance!
I'm a Jane of many trades. Having a very dynamic dance background, I am able to easily get students comfortable with movement, understanding rhythm, timing, and poise/style. Creative choregraphy is my speciality. I work with individuals, couples, and large groups.
Dancing started for me very early in life. My parents are to blame, tossing me into classes at age 4. Ever since I have dabbled in some of everything. Ballet, tap, jazz, hip-hop, lyrical/modern/contemporary, drill team, cheer, pole dancing, ballroom, latin, musical/theatre... you name it.
I currently am a professional, certified, and competitive ballroom and latin dance instructor. I have experience choreographing for high school dance/drill/hip-hop/pom teams, musical/theatre groups. My very first teaching gig was with 4-6yr. olds instructing ballet and tap.
Dance is my GREATEST passion in life. My first true love.
It's great for the mind, body, and spirit.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
15 minute meet and greet before our first lesson begins. I want to get to know you, what type of dance you are looking to learn, why, what your schedule is like, and how I can make this workable into your budget.
New hobby to get fit? Preparing for a special event? Fun date night idea with that special someone? Theraputic stress relief?
From here I can best tailor a program that will give you everything you're expecting, and then some!

Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Tailored to your personalized program.
How did you get started teaching?
The first dance academy I trained at recognized me as one with great coaching abilities and offered me a position.
What types of students have you worked with?
Ages 4-87, all shapes, all sizes, genders, and abilities!
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I help a lot of wedding couples prepare for their big day, this is always so special for me. The experience along the way, seeing a couple dedicate time to one another to grow, share a hobby/skill, and make memories they can keep FOREVER, is PRICELESS.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Pick an instructor you feel is going to make the overall experience worth the time, energy, and money. Someone who can give you opportunities and the confidence to perform your talent outside of your dance lessons. Whether it be at a social dance club, a recital, a special event, or just at home in the living room with your special someone.
Also, someone who takes the time to understand your learning and communication style. Not everyone is outgoing and lives life in techinicolor, not everyone needs the nitty-gritty details on degrees of angles that the body should be creating and weight changes or head positioning, not everyone needs a drill sargent, not everyone needs a motherlike encourager.
Seek out the chameleon instructor :)
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Why dance, and why now? And be honest with yourself. A good teacher NEEDS to know.
