Matt Liban is a sought after drum teacher (since 1995) as well as a live and recording session player from Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Teaching all ages, levels and styles. Matt started playing drums at age 8. At age 10 he began playing with John Ruka, continuing through high school. While in high school, he played in the Symphonic Band (1st chair as a freshman) and Marching Band. Matt attended UW-Milwaukee 1990-1995, where he received his Bachelor of Science, and obtained Learning Disabilities K-9 Certification. He continues to perform upwards of one hundred fifty shows per year with numerous musical affiliations. In addition to his current work with the regionally recognized 5 Card Studs (www.fivecardstuds.com) , Matt was touring drummer (both nationally and internationally) with Willy Porter. Matt also has an impressive list of other live performing and recording credits, with the likes of: Altered 5 Blues Band, The Jimmy's, Jim Liban Blues Combo, Sammy Llanas (The Bodeans), Ian Spanic (Spanic Boys), Fender Guitar Clinician - Greg Koch, Jon Paris, Billy Flynn, as well as blues legends- John Brim, Hubert Sumlin, and George Thorogood. With over 25 years of teaching experience and 30 years of professional performance I feel comfortable teaching many different styles of drumming. I can accommodate varying ages of students and individualize teaching goals suited to their strengths utilizing my college background.
