Miranda Moon Fusion Bellydance
About
With the realization we never stop being students of life, I continues studying the extensive historical influences and contributing cultural fusions which makes up what we call “Belly Dance” today. Mymost recent inspiration comes from my studies of time-less Classical Indian Dance (Odissi) and Flamenco.
I am a true and full devotee of these dances; Admiring the earthy and fluid movement qualities, I find belly dance to be astoundingly therapeutic. I take a holistic approach with my instruction merging mind with body movement, centering oneself in the creative space for dance to flow. Fusing together an accumulation of traditional world dances, modern club dance and yoga, this is a bellydance class of the ancient origins made for modern times.
In 2008 I began performing at Middle Eastern restaurants, neighborhood festivals, street fairs, night clubs, non-profit fundraisers and belly dance festivals around the Mid-West. I have also collaborated performances with talented groups such as internationally acclaimed band Rising Appalachia (Asheville, NC), Boheme Tribal Belly Dance (Kalamazoo, MI), band Mid-East by Mid-West (Madison,WI) and was a member in EDM performance duo, CONJUNCT alongside Əиɔячpʇion (Madison, WI). I also am the founder and artistic director of performance troupe, Chandraya Dance Collective.
Teaching dance since 2013 has taught me a lot about the the various and learning capabilities and social needs varying from person to person. Depending on where they are in their own stage of development, or in that very moment in time, to keep in touch with each student as a unique individual is crucial for connection.
