About

I can provide with you with a comprehensive way to approach drums and percussion, and can take you deeper into the world of jazz drumming! I've been studying for 15+ years and have a BA in music. I play in many groups, spanning from comtemporary percussion to funk and jazz groups. Music is for community and can be truly fulfilling to study!

Performing music is incredible, but teaching is just as beneficial for the student as it is the teacher. Working alongside a student to achieve their goals is incredibly rewarding.

I have been taking drum set lessons from Yanni for over a year to improve my jazz chops. I have found Yanni to be a great teacher and motivator. He is well organized, purposeful and able to breakdown information into easily digestible sections to make lessons enjoyable.

Yanni is simply a spectacular teacher, and Ive had the best time learning the art of drumming and percussion from him. Yanni is extremely knowledgeable, very attentive, and has a fantastic attitude. His knowledge ranges from musical history and varying genres all the way to fine-tuned techniques.
Yanni is very, very musical, which is extremely important- he knows how to communicate different musical and creative ideas very clearly so that anyone can understand and apply them.
Best of all, Yanni is more than a just a great teacher but a great friend as well. I eagerly look forward to our lessons as we learn, explore, and practice music together. Thank you Yanni!

Yanni is a spectacularly overqualified drum instructor. His hands and mind hold a library of Alexandria scale body of knowledge in rhythms domestic and international. His passion for the craft is infectious and I guarantee time spent with this good man will accelerate your training.

    Frequently asked questions

Music tastes range from person to person, so its beneficial to first find out what kind of music a student likes to learn or listen to. As soon as somebody can it is vital to make that kind of music with friends or anyone else!

I've studied at UWM for a BA degree in music, and have studied privately with many experts in the area. I've played many shows ranging from funk, jazz, classical, and rock. Every genre is music, and everything is beneficial to learn.

I charge 40 dollars for an hour, but can be flexible depending on how long the lessons go for!

It all starts with word of mouth! Meeting people through playing live shows allowed me to find other musicians looking to study with me.

I've worked with elementary schoolers to adults. Both percussionists and drumset players! My main study is jazz drumming.

Amongst the pandemic, I've still been lucky enough to have a few gigs and performances. I am fond of every performance I get to give during these times.

A student needs to ask themselves what they want through music, and why they make music itself. It's a question you may not be able to answer for many years, but those are always the best questions!
