About

I was a former Tour player and over the past 10 years have devoted my time and energies to studying and teaching the mechanics of the golf swing. I show my students how to effectively use their body and club to produce an efficient and effective golf swing. I have experience with teaching players of all levels from beginner to tour-level, men and women.

I refine/build a student’s swing on a step-by-step basis using a simple approach to make the task a student is trying to execute very clear. My students have had great success and improvement.

I love helping my students get better at their game but even more, I love seeing how their improvement and the challenge of the sport touch their soul as they improve.

I was 13 when I started working with David. I came to him with a 87 scoring average. After a year of working with David, my scoring average dropped to a 75. I began to play competitively and started to win. At age 16, my average dropped to 70 and my handicap is now a +3.5. He seems to understand the Swing better than anything else i see online.

I have been taking lessons from Dave for about six years, and can’t say enough about how good he is as an instructor and a human being. Dave is extremely knowledgeable about every aspect of the golf swing, yet he also takes into account a person’s ability, physique and age when providing his instruction and advice. He’s very patient, personable, friendly and articulate, and his prior experience as a tour player gives a value-added dimension to his teaching. Dave offers a full range of instructions from putting through chipping, pitching, bunker play, approach shots and driving. And the insight he offers from playing on tour can help his students learn how to manage their game out on the course, not only from the standpoint of club selection, but also strategy, mental awareness, reading a green, and how a tour player thinks, all of which can easily save several strokes a round. If you want to be a better golfer, I HIGHLY recommend David for EVERY aspect of your game!

Connected well with David. He identified some set up issues that immediately produced positive results. Will reach out in a few weeks for another lesson.

If you really want to improve your golf game and you want more than Band-Aid fixes to your swing faults, David Huffman should be your instructor of choice. In 2014 I took the advice of a young man aspiring to become a professional golfer – I made a leap of faith and travelled from VA to Phoenix AZ for a week of lessons with David. The trip was a huge success as I learned more about a good golf swing and how to execute it than I had ever learned before. David knows how to work a student through a progression of achievements, building all the time toward a better and better swing. Unlike most instructors, he has a knack for identifying root causes of swing faults and helping to correct them in the context of his general teaching – rather than simply treating effects. Through his teaching I have learned to hit a ball more solidly and consistently than I ever have before. I made a return trip in 2015 for further instruction. If you want to improve your game, David is the man to help you achieve your goals.

    Frequently asked questions

1- learn some about my students history

2- understand their hopes and goals

3- see where the student is confused

4- watch some shots, swings; video and begin our plan with the above information , utilizing the video to explain and begin with the first area of the swing that can benefit from our initial work.

5- finish with a clear and concise idea of what we did and how to effectively practice for progress .

I was a former tour player, have coached for ten years with successful students and, possibly most important, was (& still am mentored) by the 2011 National PGA Instructor of the Year, Mike Malaska.

I am a certified Jack Nicklaus Academy Instructor and a certified Malaska instructor  (& Malaska Golf Academy of Las Sendas lead Instructor.

$155 for members of Las Sendas; $175 for non members.

There is a standard lesson package of buy 5 and get a sixth session free.

As a player working on my own game, I found that I had a great interest in understanding the game and a passion for teaching.

I work and have worked with all ages and levels. I currently have men and women ages 35-75 as regular students. I also have 12-18 year olds and professional golfers. The handicaps of my students range from +4 to 30.

Don't look for a "deal". The better, more successful the coaches message and methods, the more value the coach.
