About
I have had a passion for swimming for many years. I used to be on a team for a total of 8 years. I have been teaching for about three now. I have taught all ages ranging from new borns with their parents to people about 40 years old. I have taught people in groups as well as individually. I taught at a Rec center in Colorado but now I am in Arizona for school and ready to teach people out here! I have my CPR and first aid certification as well!

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
The first session I am just seeing how the student does. After that first lesson we work on improving in the areas that need work. I first work on the technique and then we work our way up to the distance.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have lifeguard training and I have been to many different classes to help me improve my skills as a swim teacher.
How did you get started teaching?
I was a lifeguard first and I watched the lessons from the sidelines. I loved the idea of being able to help people and their skills for something that I am passionate about.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have taught many different ages, both boys and girls. I have also worked with people that have different disablities.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I taught this one family how to swim. I taught the daughter and the brother. When we first started the little girl would not put her face in the water. She was so scared and there was a day that we were working and she wanted to go under without me encouraging her. I was so proud of her.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
I advise that you find someone that you are comfortable with. It is hard to trust someone right away and I think while swimming that is very important. It is not easy to get into a place unfamiliar with someone unfamilair and swim. It make take a few lessons but if it does not work after the few maybe it is not the right fit. This is okay! Some people learn better with different kinds of teachers.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
They should just have in mind what they want to work on.
