About

I have been classically trained for over 20 years by a professional, international opera singer. You will never be forced or looked down upon because you don't like opera. I am not about that. You will never be forced to sing opera either. I firmly believe that in order to truly express your musical interpretation. You must have a fully developed "instrument" to perform with. In addition, I have studied vocal anatomy, speech, and hearing sciences. I have trained privately and, in a college, setting with the same voice teacher. I train all my students using the "Bel Canto" technique. Bel Canto will develop, increase vocal range, refine, tune, polish, and free up voices. In order to get maximum results. You will be able to sing any style of musical genre you wish. Please keep in mind. It doesn't matter how many vocal exercises you do. It's how well you do them.

Many of my students sing with the Phoenix Symphony Chorus. In addition to the Phoenix Symphony folks. My students are comprised of physicians, attorneys, and professional singers. I love to work and develop new student's voices. It is my joy in life to help all that need help. You will not feel that you are taking a college course. I work hard to make the lessons enjoyable.

I am continually amazed at how well my students' voices develop. It is the commitment and dedication of the student that rewards those who wish to professionally train. The human voice is the most complicated instrument to develop. Think about this. If you had $45,000 to purchase a grand piano. All you really need to do is buy the piano, take piano lessons and practice. Now compare that to the human voice. The human voice is the only instrument which, you must BUILD and train at the same time. Without proper training/instruction and the carefully trained ear of the instructor. The voice will never develop to its fullest potential.

My students have been with me for many, many years not because it is a dreadfully slow process. It's because they keep getting consistently better every week. Student retention is an important factor when selecting an instructor.

My studio is well equipped with a full sized grand and digital grand piano. I display the music on 50-inch monitors. Even if you can't read music. You will begin to understand how music notation works. It's an amazing journey.

My Facebook page is under my name, Chip Bonfanti.

I am now offering something a little different for those students who do not have the time for a weekly commitment. I am offering a half hour lesson at $30 every other week. You will still experience vocal growth.

If you are interested in really interested in learning how to sing. I can definitely help you. Feel free to text or call me at 480 518-2537. Chip Bonfanti, Bonfanti's Voice Studio

I like the results! As I grew older I realized I needed help keeping my voice young. Once I got to a stronger place vocally Ive kept up my training with him on a regular basis. His patience, his knowledge of the voice, and his amazing studio keep me coming back.

My husband and I received gift certificates from a friend for an introductory singing lesson with Chip Bonfanti. That was 4 years ago...and we have enjoyed learning and improving with Chip ever since! While his methods are methodical and effective, his positive and engaging manner makes each lesson joyful!

I love working with Chip! His techniques are so helpful and his encouraging approach creates a safe space to practice and grow. My range increased to 3 octaves and my voice is more resonant and powerful than I could have ever imagined.

Chip has made a transformative difference in my singing abilities. As an alto in the Phoenix Symphony Chorus, I am thrilled that my voice is now much more versatile and free, and as an older singer, I am confident I can continue to perform with confidence. My vocal range has increased an octave. Chip’s gentle, basic approach lays the sound foundation for healthy singing, and his results are consistent and rewarding. I highly recommend Chip Bonfanti to singers at any level of development.

    Frequently asked questions

I start with a vocal assessment.  Student's goals are discussed.  I introduce how to properly open the throat and how to properly support the voice.

I have trained professionally with a Metropolitan Opera trained voice teacher twice a week for over 20 years.  My voice teacher taught her daughter to sing.  Her daughter was a Metropolitan Opera singer.  I work in the medical field and have taken speech and hearing science classes at ASU.

    I do have standard pricing.

I offer half hour lessons (technique only) for $30.  My hourly rate is $45 an hour.  I teach in studio and on-line via Google Meet

My studio is located in Scottsdale, AZ.  It is well equipped with two grand pianos, and five, 50-inch PC monitors which, display the sheet music.

My church's choir members witnessed my vocal develpment and inquired.  I referred them to my voice coach.  They wanted me to teach them instead.  So, I started teaching way back in 1992.  The choir members that trained with me improved tremendously.   There have been many times that my church's choir has actually stopped the Mass!

I train physicians, attorneys, university professors, bio-medical engineers, and basically anyone who wants to really learn how to correctly sing without damaging their throat.  I even teach classes via Zoom in Africa every Saturday morning at 7 am.  Please keep in mind.  I will never force you to sing what you don't want to sing.  You will never be forced to sing opera.  I may suggest certain songs because of specific training needs.

Recently, one of my students was asked to sing a solo part in a large concert with a full orchestra and two full choirs behind him.  He easily hit a Tenor's high "D", which put him in demand as a vocalist.

Make sure the instructor is throughly familiar with the intricacies of the Bel Canto technique.  The Bel Canto technique is considered the state of the art standard.  I can teach opera, but you will never be forced to sing it.  If you don't want to.  Practically all of my students sing and perform contemporary music

Students should do their research before selecting an instructor.  Many claim to know Bel Canto.  There are many secrets in how to properly excute the vocal exercises.  If the exercises are not done 100 percent correctly, the voice will never be totally freed and there may be vocal and/or technical issues that show their ugly face months or years later.
