I have been teaching since 2011 in Los Angeles. The studio I managed included the vocal teachers Valerie Morehouse (Avril Lavigne, ABC's Nashville cast) and John Henny (Britney Spears). They mentored me in healthy techniques for all styles of singers. My students have worked in television, theatre, film and the music industry.
I received my Master of Arts degree from New York University and have performed in theatre, television, commercials and film. I played the role of Christmas Eve in Phoenix Theatre's Avenue Q.
I am passionate about healthy singing and helping all levels of singers achieve their goals.
I enjoy the process of watching my students grow, whether they are singing for fun or on stage! Music has always been an integral part of my life and I hope to spread any knowledge and joy I can through teaching.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
My process includes getting to know students first. I want to know their goals and vocal style. Once I make that initial introduction, I will warm them up with a variety of vocal exercises to get to know range and passagio. After the exercises, I will work on the material with the student. I have a wide range of repertoire so I can also suggest songs that will promote the most growth.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a Master of Arts degree in Theatre and Vocal Performance from New York University. I studied Theatre, Dramaturgy, Musicals, Dance/Movement, Music Theory and Musicianship. I also trained with renowned vocal coaches Valerie Morehouse and John Henny.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
In Los Angeles, I charged $100 per hour but am flexible due to the cost of living variance. Additionally, if a room is rented, the cost ranges from $14-$20 extra depending on the availability of the space.
How did you get started teaching?
I managed a vocal studio for Valerie Morehouse and John Henny. They mentored me and also taught me how to accompany my students on the piano.
What types of students have you worked with?
All levels - as young as 5 and into adulthood. The majority of my students are working entertainment professionals ranging from television actors to recording artists.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I co-produced a charity fundraiser benefiting the unsheltered entitled "Broadway to the Rescue" in Los Angeles. Working with television and Broadway stars for such a wonderful cause was a phenomenal experience and one I am proud to have been a part of.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
My advice would be to work with a teacher who challenges you while also creating a nurturing environment. You have to feel safe enough to take risks. You will only grow by making mistakes!
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
1. What aspect of my voice would I like to improve? (Range, pitch, vibrato, volume, etc)
2. How much time can I spend practicing? As Malcolm Gladwell stated: "Practice isn't the thing you do once you're good. It's the thing you do that makes you good."
