As a South Florida Native, Shane has worked in the golf industry for over 18+ years working at many reputable clubs from South Florida to Phoenix, Arizona. Shane began playing golf with his grandpa at the age of 12, became the MVP on his high school golf team as a senior, and quickly developed a passion for the game while also learning the business of golf starting in High School.
As far as credentials, Shane is a college graduate from FGCU, a PGA Class A Professional, a 2023 Golf Digest Best in State Instructor, Golf Digest Certified Instructor, First Tee Level 1 Certified Junior Instructor, American Development Model Certified and an avid Tournament Player in the SW PGA Section. Having played the game competitively for over 20+ years, Shane has spent thousands of hours developing his own methodology and mentoring under many of the games most credible coaches including Martin Hall, Tim Mahoney and Jeremy Anderson. His hunger to learn about the game never stops as he continues to further his education with certifications, Teaching Seminars and playing the game at the PGA Section level.
To add, focuses on creating sound fundamentals, biomechanics, individualized swing sequencing, and ball flight as well as prescribing individualized practice plans for tournament players. Not only does Shane strive to make his students better, but he works hard to make his own game better by putting his own best practices to the test day in and day out. From this extreme dedication to the game, he is also able to help students of all playing abilities overcome bad practice habits, poor swing mechanics and mental blockades that may be hindering their performance to succeed. To conclude, most of Shanes students leave with a better sense of how to diagnose swing faults, how to practice more efficiently and with more confidence to achieve desired goals.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
At the start of a lesson, I start with an interview so I can get to know the student. The interview process is solely to learn about the student's current playing level, strengths & weaknesses, short-term and long-term goals. Then, I move on to assesing the student's fundamentals and ball flight tendencies. From there, I re-establish the fundamentals with the student if needed, work on new swing sequencing and drills, and prescribe post-lesson practice so the student can ingrain the new patterns we worked on in the lesson.

How did you get started teaching?
In the early years, I began giving non-formal lessons to friends on my high school golf team, friends at work, and members at the golf clubs I worked at. Then, after graduating college I began shadowing well-respected teachers of the game, studying the golf swing and developing my own philosophy. Over time I developed an even greater love for teaching the game, building great relationships with my students and set the stage for me to becoming a Class A PGA Professional.

I work with men and women, adults, junior athletes, high school & college athletes, mini tour players, fellow PGA associates and more.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
Playing the game and competing will always be a passion of mine. To add, I recently competed in a Southwest PGA Section Event, finishing 2nd shooting 67 in one a day tournament, as well as a 4th place finish at the SW PGA Assistant's Championship shooting -1 par for a 2-day tournament. Along with a handful of other top-10's, I am proud to keep my game at a level where I can still compete. I hope to provide any experience I can to help my students gain a competive edge against all levels of competion they strive to compete against.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Find a teacher who challenges you to get better no matter what your playing goals are, puts all of his/her efforts into teaching the game, has an abundance of available resources to help his/her student's progress and you'll enjoy the game more along with acheiving results.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Students should inquire about the teacher's methodology, the teacher's availability to resources (like technology, a practice facility & course), playing ability & playing record, lesson rates and current availability. Many teachers nowadays are charging a very high premium and are very limited on lesson availability, resources and the time to devote to a new student. In return, this typically leads to subpar relationships with new students and less reliability when a newer student is in need. I can assure you this is not the case with me.
As a newer resident to the Phoenix area with all my attention directed at teaching, my availability and flexible schedule provides plenty of opportunity to build sound professional relationships with new students and an abundant reach to available resources like FlightScope, Trackman, SAM PuttLab, CoachNow, a full fitting studio, a 4-bay Hitting Academy, a driving range & state of the art practice facility, as well as one of the finest mentors teaching right at my side for an abundance of knowledge.
