Simo's Mexican Cuisine
About
I have been cooking Mexican food since the 1950's started my own taqueria in San Francisco's Mission District back in the 1970's, and have been catering to businesses, diplomats, friends and family for decades. I currently organize the oldest Mexican Celebration in San Francisco, "El Grito" the night before Mexican Independence, held yearly at City Hall of San Francisco. I even catered this event for city officials, past mayors and attendees.
Cooking food is a labor of love which i first started for my family. You want your family to eat a great healthy meal. For everyone to get together, share their day, laugh, talk and support each other in life. I realized i i was a good cook and began making Mexican food to sell at my husband's meat market, butcher shop. We, along with El Cumbre, Farolito, helped pioneer the modern burrito. San Francisco's style of burrito has become the most popular burrito in United States. Chipolte has presented our style of burrito, unique to San Francisco and the Mission District, and is the favorite choice of Americans. I am proud to have been a part of that culinary history.
So cooking is a labor of love. You want people to enjoy the food, make them happy! Eat drink and be merry!

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
If a student comes to my home, I like for the student(s) to feel comfortable. We start off with a drink, beverage and some snacks. Then I explain the process of what's going to happen at each step of the process. Give time for any questions before we start and then begin. I am very patient and we move at the pace needed for students to learn at every step of the way.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have over 50 years of experience cooking for my catering business and taqueria we owned in the Mission of San Francisco for 15 years in the 1970's and 80's.
