Superpowers Music Academy
About
From a lifetime of music performance and creation, I am thrilled to instruct and coach individuals on their instrument. I began playing guitar at age 9, and my path culminated in 25 years as a professional--I was the lead guitarist for the band Young Dubliners, who recorded several albums and literally toured the world. By giving of my vast experience, I hope to teach students the connection to their musical path.
Every person learns at least a little differently -- yet the language of music is universal. I enjoy helping each student hear and understand that language. I have trained as a teacher of the Suzuki Music Method, which effects all styles of music that I teach. Helping new and experienced musicians to play new techniques and master musical expression are my program goals.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
To start, all the student needs is their instrument! For beginners, we will supply learning materials for the early lessons, before beginning a method book. Players with experience are welcome to bring materials in that they are working with, or our instructor will determine a lesson plan.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I started playing guitar as child--over 40 years ago! For 18 years, I toured the US and Europe as the lead guitarist for the Young Dubliners, with whom I wrote and recorded 6 albums. I have always instructed guitar in addition to my work as a performing artist. I studied music theory at Saddleback College in Mission Viejo, CA. Also, I studied privately with jazz guitarist Jim Hewitt. I have completed teacher training for the Suzuki guitar method, book 1 and 2.
