Acting With Emmy Award Winner David Tom

Hey everyone! My name is David Tom and I have over 40 years of acting experience in Film, TV and Stage. I've been teaching and coaching actors for over 17 years now and I have the experience and training to coach actors who are either beginning their journey with acting or are well experienced and are looking to bring more color and light to their work.

In my classes my students learn how to breakdown scenes and how to emotionally and truthfully become the characters they are playing through a technique called "personalization". This is where we take emotions that the student has experienced in their own life and apply them to the characters they are playing so that they can better understand how they are feeling. This in turn creates much more truthful, grounded and real performances that make it much easier for their audiences to relate to.

We also work on audition techniques as well. I teach students how to stand out in front of the casting director and make their tapes unique from the rest. Especially with their taped auditions which have become so important in todays industry. I work with actor of all ages and at all different levels of their careers. From actors that are just beginning, and are looking to enter the industry the correct way. With helping them find the correct photographer for their headshots to finding the right representation, as well as seasoned actors that are looking to find more color and uniqueness to their work.
