About

I teach a great class! I have been told many times that they have learned more in one class of mine than in a whole series of classes. I cater to the level that is needed and am very articulate in how to break down movement. I have taught students ranging from 4- 80 yrs old, from kinder to college, beginner to professional. I am great at teaching salsa partering as well solo footwork and other forms like Bachata, Cha Cha Cha, Merengue, and Cumbia. I have experience teaching other forms of dance like hip-hop, house, Cuban Rumba, and some free forms of movement. I have experience with quinceaneras, weddings, large gatherings, master classes, as well as concert stage dance. If it involves dance and people, I have done it. I would love to teach you dance!

I love to teach people to dance. I believe that everybody is a dancer at heart. Movement and music is just part of human nature. There is a two-way relationship between the brain and the body. Brain informs the body but the body also informs the brain, and practicing both in your life makes you that much more aware of the world.

I love to watch peoples face light up as they start enjoying dance and not just attempting to learn it. That can happen sooner than you think and watching people get to that level of understanding of themselves is an awesome experience for me. My specialty is all those people who don't think that they cannot dance or can't be taught.

    Frequently asked questions

When working with a new student I like to start by explaining the basics and then slowing down the movement to where it is easy to copy. We gradually speed up the tempo to achieve some level of familiarity with the basics before we move on. I take the time to answer questions and also take the time to review when neeeded. I like to push my students by constantly introducing something new to them but not going beyond the student can handle. I like to use tools like repetition, mirroring, leading and following, slowing tempo, verbal cues and many other creative fun ways to get my student to understand. I am very friendly and patient. We will always review if we have more than one lesson and will build on the last thing learned.

I have taught students with special learning needs as well as students who have never danced. I have a trreasure trove of information for you!
