Swing, Tap, Salsa And French Classes
About
I am an overall dancer, teacher, and choreographer or performer for over 30 years. My speciality is swing dancing (17 styles from begnners to advanced dancers) and I did belong also to 3 swing teams, but recently a member of the LA Swing Posse, with the notorious Chester Whitmore as our artistic director. I also teach tap (beginners to intermediate) in both styles (Broadway and rhythm tap) and I was a dancer in "42nd street". I also teach salsa for beginners and French at every levels (it is my native tongue)
As a performer, I enjoy the entertainment part of it. As an instructor, I enjoy teaching and helping people to achieve their goal. As a choreographer, I enjoy the creative process. Overall, I enjoy making people happy with what they like to do, and I did this for so long that I know how to proceed at your specific level. I expect my students to make mistake, because it is why they need me for. To correct their mistake toward better and nice (may I say cool?) dancing. I also belong to 2 swing teams in 2 continents. Knowing about swing history, each step or styles with me are the real deal. I always invite my students to double check me if they like. I don't pretend to be an instructor. it is for me a career. My approach is similar for tap or salsa. For french, I teach in a revolutionary method for fast speaking or the conventional one learned in USA schools for fast grammar abilities.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I ask him/her at what level he/she is. If he/she is a beginner, I will start with easy steps or styles to develop his/her muscle memory. I am very patient with my students. I also do teach for a very long time. At a more advanced level, I do challenge my students, but not at a point of frustration. Practicing is the key of success.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
When do I start? I have more than 260 shows for a long dance career. I started at a rock and roll dancer (50's) in Geneva (4 hours a day, 5 days a week, for about 5 years). Then I did embrace over forms of dancing like tap, jazz, ballet, in New york and Los Angeles. Today I may say that I master swing dancing pretty well, but still learning. I am also a quite decent tap dancer. I also perform in musicals, mime, etc.. my resume is gladly share upon request
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
That's depend of the distance I have to travel. I have to include the gas price if it is far. In general, my price is $50 a hour for private, same for semi-private (a couple), and less for a group (usually $15 per person with 3 couples minimum). I also offer discount if it is more than 3 hours a week. I also charge about $100 to animate a special event with 2 to 3 classes. Except forgroup classes, I will not pay for the room rental. it is why, I usually give my class in the home of my student or students
