How did you get started teaching?
When I stopped teaching at culinary institues, I opened my own culinary private / personal chef business which was highly recieved with culinary hands on education.
What types of students have you worked with?
Children, adults, corporate team buliding, special need groups, and public figures.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
Spending one month at sea teaching the navy cooks, know as Culinary Specialist. I also have wonderful expierences showing exciting culinary entertainment with "Irion Chef" group hands on competitions.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
First and foremost have them clearly decide what they really would like to learn, specialize in? I strongly recommmend basic knife skills and cooking basic techniques so down the road they will be able to address almost any cuisine. I aslo highly suggest the look for a teacher with great energy and a fun dymamic personality? This makes a huge difference.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
First and formost explain what they really are interested in. Students should do strong research on the particular teacher, (chef). What space and accommodations do they have? (example: Their kitchen space, etc.) Discuss with the teacher how many classes may it take to create their desired dish or cuisine. Lastly what can they learn with their desired budget, and is the teacher available at that budget.
