The Dance Academy offers a complete program for every dancer.

Situated in the heart of Orange County, The Dance Academy at Costa Mesa is convenient to Newport Beach, Huntington Beach, Santa Ana and Irvine communities. Since opening in January 2006, this Dance Academy has been offering the best dance instruction available for dancers of all ages and abilities. Owned and directed by Cynthia Berning, TDA Costa Mesa specializes in Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Hip Hop, and Lyrical.

I began dancing when I was 3 years old. I began my formal training with the Palos Verdes Ballet where I performed in many ballets and worked my way up to dancing principle rolls. From 2004-2006 I studied at The Pittsburgh Ballet Theater as a trainee where I had the opportunity to perform with the company. I graduated from the University of California, Irvine in 2009 with a BFA in Dance-Performance, a BA in Sociology, and minor in Education. At UCI, I received extensive training in ballet, contemporary, modern, and jazz from renowned faculty and performed in works by George Balanchine, William Forsythe, Molly Lynch, Caleb Mitchell, and others. I most recently moved from Houston, TX where I was a 4 year company member at MET dance (formerly known as the Houston Metropolitan Dance Company). With the Met, I had the opportunity to perform in works by many choreographers. Teaching dance is my passion and I have over 13 years of teaching experience. I began teaching at the Palos Verdes Ballet Summer Intensives and realized my love for teaching in Houston. My goal is to bring the best quality dance instruction to dancers age 2 and up while keeping the joy and love of dancing.
