Dancing has impacted my life in many positive ways. After studying partner dancing and competing in it, my goals shifted back to social dancing. Teaching partner dancing and getting people out dancing is my current focus so my students can experience the joys and benefits of partner dancing.
Because of my extensive experience dancing and teaching dance, I am able to get people dancing quickly and efficiently. I focus on proper technique and connection, giving a strong foundation in which new moves can be easily learned. I am particularly good with beginners as I remember how difficult it was to learn dance in the beginning.
I began partner dancing in junior high and danced through college while getting my degree. After college, I decided to teach dance and share my passion with others. In addition to competing on the professional circuit, I became certified to teach ballroom and latin dance through the Terpsichore Association, the United States International Society of Teachers of Dance (USISTD) and Dance Vision International Dancers Association (DVIDA). Currently I am focused on getting people comfortable out on the dance floor.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I like to talk with them to find out what they want to get out of learning to dance. That way we are on the same page when we begin.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have been certified to teach by the Terpsichore Association and DVIDA.
How did you get started teaching?
I always loved dancing. After graduating from college, I decided to give teaching dance a try to see if it was something for me. I have not looked back since!
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
It always makes me feel good when people come back and tell me what an impact my teaching them to dance had on their lives.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
I'd ask if the instructor has been certified to teach,how long they have been teaching, and what levels they teach. Besides the skill level, the teacher should be someone you feel comfortable with so you are more easily able to learn. It's OK to check out more than one teacher before deciding on someone for regular lessons.
