About

I tailor each lesson to each student depending on their goals and their ability. We always work together to attain each person's goals as a team. I listen to feed back and I am very in tune with the level of comfort in the water of each of my students. I work very hard to enable my students to feel comfortable and confident in the water, and to feel confident with me as their mentor. I work very efficiently to give each person the quickest route to achieving their goals.

I love to see the look on people's faces when they achieve their goals!

I love to take a nervous swimmer and transform them in to a swimmer that is at home in the water and truly confident in their aquatic abilities.

Lisa is an excellent instructor!! She is a kind and understanding person, and has amazing patience! I have wanted to learn how to swim, its one of the to-do things in my bucket list. I was glad I I chose her. I am able to swim a little now :) I am afraid when I am in the water. She guided and taught me little by little to overcome my fear. I will continue my lessons with Lisa again in summer. I highly recommend her.

Lisa is very friendly and sincere. She has the patience of a saint! She worked with 3 kids (2 were VERY active, short attention span type kids) and all 3 kids learned so many new skills. I was amazed at the improvement in such a short time. The children loved Lisa and their lessons and are now so much more confident in their ability to reach the edge of the pool if they accidentally fall in. She never forces anything on a child if they are not ready to attempt it, but she somehow always gets them to eventually do it with her kindness and gentle guidance. We loved having her teach our children. We never had any issues; everything was positive about the experience. I highly recommend Lisa for young children or any aged person who truly wants to learn how you swim.

Coach Lisa really helped me to perfect my strokes. In the years that we worked together she was always positive and encouraging, pushing me and yet understanding my personal limits. Then she expanded my limits. Under her teaching I felt confident enough to try new strokes before I felt ready based on her recommendations, and she was usually right. As a person she is incredibly nice, welcoming, and understanding.

Coach Lisa helped lead to the creation of a high school varsity swim team at River Valley Charter School while I was the athletic director. I was nervous about starting a sport I knew so little about, but Lisas confidence and experience helped overcome these doubts. Students of far-apart ability levels enjoyed her purposeful instruction and I was always impressed with the team-focused attitude demonstrated by all with what is essentially an individual sport.
I would trust Lisa to lead or instruct any activity that is water-based. She is very honest and enjoyable to talk to. I wish her luck with her new endeavors and look forward to seeing her in the upcoming swim season.

She is always encouraging, regardless of hour skill level. If you are willing to learn, she is willing to teach. Lisa taught my varsity swim team all 4 years I was on it, and I never felt insecure or nervous, and was constantly learning new ways to improve my strokes.

    Frequently asked questions

Durring the first lesson I will evaluate the student's skill level.  I will ask for their thoughts on what they would like to accomplish.  Then we will typically set up a series of 6-10 lessons which are each 40 minutes in the water.

I will let them dictate how many times per week however,  it is advised to take at least 2 per week when first begining to see the most improvemnet.

I will gain trust at the start by always following through on what I say I am going to do and giving guided encouragemnet and praise.

I have been a Water Safety Instructor Trainer for 10 years with the American Red Cross and I have held my own Water Safety Instructor Certification since I was 17 years old.

I have taught Water Exercise courses through the Arthritis Foundation for 3 years and I have 6 years of High School Swim Team Coaching experience and 3 years of Special Olympic Swim Team coaching experieince.

I have managed Public Swimming lesson programs at both the Grossmont Union High School district and at Saint Madelien Sophie's center

My Rates depend on how many students are in a 40 minute lesson and how far I have to travel to my students. Please messege me for more details.

I started Competing in Swimming at the age of 13 on a USA Swim club team.  I swam for 6 years on that team and throughout High school and  College.

I began teaching at the age of 17 at the Grossmont Union High School District pools and I have worked at several YMCA and private Swim Schools as well as coached High School Swim teams and USA Club Swimming teams. I have been teaching Private and small group lessons at peoples' private homes since 1985.

    ALL ages - 6 months-Senior Adults.

Nervous beginners all the way through Competative -CIF level- High School Swimmers.

Deveopmentally and/or Physically challenged - All ages as well,  6 months- Senior Adults

Ask the instructor their favorite strokes or skills to teach and also what is their favorite age group to work with.

Ask their experience - if it is all swim team or all under age 6 then depending on where you are starting at they may not be the right fit.

You should be clear on several goals- not just to "learn to swim."

Think about and then communicate to the instructor exactly which strokes you want to focus on.

If  you have a class or a test the you might want to be able to take in the Aquatics arena, let the instructor know about this goal.  Make sure the instructor is aware of the requirements to qualify to pass the test or join the class.
