Frequently asked questions

It usually always begins with an introduction/icebreaker. I love to have a connection with my students before I start with coaching. Throughout the first week, I'll see what needs to be improved on, and what strengths and weaknesses the student has. By the end of the week, we will be officially started!

I coached as an assistant in club. I swam for my varsity team in highschool club for 12 years.

I've worked with children who just started swimming to friends in high school who wanted to get into the sport.

During my senior year of high school, my coach and I set a goal for sub 21 seconds on my 50 free. At one of the biggest tournaments of our year, I swam that 50 free. At first, the time read 22 seconds on my coach's clock. However, as official times came out, I ended up breaking 21 seconds. My coach and I were so excited that he even said it was his most memorable coaching memory of all time. It was an exhilarating experience of satisfaction and happiness that I wish every person would experience.

I would say look for a coach that cares about your progress instead of accolades. Failure should be acceptable and to some extent, should be encouraged. Improvement should be built on and success should be celebrated.

What are your goals? How long do you plan on swimming? What is your dedication to this sport? Trying it out? Trying to improve so that you make your schools varsity team later? Is this the right sport for me?
