About this pro

As a i am the only one who participates in this, it stands out due to my training. I have been classically trained in all forms of contemporary and modern dance, as well as theatrical dance. I have trained with Joffrey Ballet School, ABT, and SAB. I have college dance team experience and I am also a certified yoga instructor. I have a lot to offer young bright dancers and would love to help them achieve their dreams, whatever they might be in the entertainment industry.

I love dance because it allows me to express myself to the fullest both internally and externally. Dance is like a therapy, and when used correctly can be absolute magic. I love this work because even when you think you have learned everything, theres more to discover. Because I do have so much training, I always find so much joy in learning more and more and tieing all of the dance forms together to create something truly beautiful.

FAQs

What is your typical process for working with a new student?

I always like to start with the basics and see where the student is at. From there we can collectively decide what we want to work on and blossom their techinique, whatever the style, from there.

My only rule is a positive attitude and a smile here and there, I want you to have fun and be happy!

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I am currently an SDSU Dance Major. I have college dance team experience. I have trained with major ballet companies. I am trained in styles of dance including: ballet, hip hop, pointe, contemporary, jazz, (open), tap, pas de duex, musical theatre, modern, interprative, improvisation and jazz funk/other branches of major dance forms. I have multiple choreography awards and I also have a 200 hour Yoga Cerfication. I have danced with groups, teams, teachers, professors and even as a soloist. I'm hoping with this experience I can answer all questions and provide all needs for people seeking my teachings.

Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.

I usually charge $60 per private (meaning one person) per hour. This can vary depending on what it is you are looking for and how many people.

How did you get started teaching?

I danced my entire life at mulitple studios and when I turned 15 the studio I was at offered me a teaching position and I fell in love with it from the very start.

What types of students have you worked with?

I have worked with students ages 3 - 25 and possibly older. I have worked with competative students, intermediate, beginning, and even just- for-fun students.

Describe a recent event you are fond of.

Recently, I have been studying techniques in Laban and Bartienoff fundamentals that show you how to use total body connectivity that starts from the top down. (Meaning using your brain to move your body, instead of your body moving and your brain listening.) This is a very advanced technique for already trained dancers to delve deeper into somewhat of a meditative practice during their dance. These teachings have been somewhat of a revelation in my efficiency and use of my body.

What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?

I would advise you to really think about what it is you want out of lessons before asking for them. The best way to get better and stronger is to know what you are working toward and having not only a strong motivater (me) by your side, but also the will and want to learn. I am hoping the students I get to work with will be ready, alert, and excited to be there, if this is what you're looking for, all I need is a generalization on where you want to be and we can soar!

What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?

Like stated above, what it is they're looking for. Whether it be stronger Jazz technique, or harder hip hop swag, etc. the student knowing what they want to work on will be the most effficient way for not only the teacher to help you get your moneys worth, but also your knowledge and midset/intention walking into the lesson.
