I feel like it is my duty to teach - I want to give back the knowledge my teachers were gracious enough to give. One of my favorite parts of teaching is seeing the excitement and gratification students get from a successful performance. I am also grateful for the lifelong bonds I have made through music and I would hope to facilitate them as a teacher.
I have been teaching for 6 years and I have taught in many different situations. I have led after school pop bands, taught recorder, and taught music appreciation at LAUSD schools for students of various ages from six to eighteen. I have also led pop bands and conducted orchestras at summer camps in my hometown of Albuquerque, New Mexico. I’ve found it very meaningful to teach in all of these different contexts. I have seen how students might not enjoy music at first but then can become very enthusiastic about it when they see they have improved.
I have been fortunate to play with many great musicians such as Peter Erskine, Geoffrey Keezer, Eddie Henderson, Sara Gazarek, Kathleen Grace, Anat Cohen, and Jamey Haddad. I graduated from Oberlin Conservatory with a Bachelor of Music and I am currently pursuing a Master of Music from USC.

Lessons with Tim were always fun and productive. He gave specific suggestions about technique to give me a better sound and he taught me a variety of ways to practice that continue to help me learn and understand jazz standards today. In addition to all of this, Tim is very encouraging and he creates a safe and fun learning environment.
I loved how he was very patient and also explained everything as if it was easy.
Tim is an incredible teacher. Learning bass seemed like a challenge, but evolving on bass by being introduced to new concepts is even more challenging. Tim is very patient, easy to understand and very knowledgeable. He is committed as a teacher to see his students succeed, and as his student that is something that helped me keep striving knowing I had that kind of support from my teacher. I've learned a lot from my lessons with Tim, I feel I have grown as a bass player and those around me have noticed. Without hesitance I'd recommend Tim to anyone trying to learn bass.
I like to ask the student what there goal is for taking lessons and I like to hear them play something on the instrument. It can be anything!
I have 8 years teaching experience. I have taught everything from Orchestra to recorder to private lessons. I also have a Bachelors Degree from Oberlin Conservartoy in Music and I am pursuing a Masters of Music at USC
I charge $50 to drive to the students house and $40 for them to come to my studio.
I started teaching because a friend asked me to teach their daughter bass. I immediately fell in love with it and took every oppurtunity I could to teach.
I have worked with students from age 6 to 18. I have worked with students who had played a musical note in their life to students who had already been studying for years.
