    Frequently asked questions

When I meet a student for the first time.  It's all about gaining the students trust and assesses their swimming abilities as well as their comfortable they are in the water.  Making sure they know how to be safe around the pool.

I have been swimming since I was 5. Started swimming competition at 9. Was a life guard at 17. Teaching 6month - adult students at 18 to present.  Swim coach at 44. I also teach special needs of all kinds. for the last 22 years.  I am American red cross CPR/ First aid certified

I have always swam so seeing others struggle I just always helped.

One of my beginner swimmers was afraid of the water and refused to get in the water or put her bathing suit on.  I asked mom if I could bring her in with her leggings on.  Mom agreed.

I picked her up put her on my hip. Walked back into the water. Showing her she was safe with me. By the end of the lesson she was jumping into the water into my arms. It's been a couple years since that day and I hear she's a fish Swimming all over the pool. More they have trouble getting her out.

I have another student who had a similar story. That will be joining a Swim club in the fall.  This is why I do what I do. It's a passion not a job.
