I started teaching swim lessons as a Lifeguard for LA County in 2014. As an Acting Assistant Swim Coach, I worked with swimmers ages 7-13 for Commerce Aquatics in Commerce, CA for the duration of Summer 2017.
I swam competitively for 17 Years throughout High School and College. I am fluent in English and Spanish.
I love working with all types of age levels because I believe swimming is a fundamental skill that anyone should be able to do.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I like to introduce myself with a set of basic rules for the student to acknowledge and follow during class. I work to get the student in the water first and move forward from there. I don't believe in scaring the student or traumatizing their time in the water by forcing them to do things they aren't ready to do. Each student is different and will progress at their own pace, but there will be progression! My goal is to help students reach a sense of confidence in their abilities and connect with the cleansing experience that is being able to swim and use your body in the water.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have extensive knowledge about how an individual learns and develops as a psychology major and past ABA therapist. As a swimmer myself, I know various techniques that help the individual gain confidence in the water and in their abilities. Rest assured that you will be safe and challenged during classes.
