Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Introducing them to the wonderful world of cooking and assessing their skills and adjusting as per the students needs.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
For the past 25 years I have been a stay-at-home mother, and taught my children all that I know and more. But before that I use to be an elementary school teacher for three years. Over the years I have also taught at my children's schools and tutored their friends.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
My prices are based on the difficulty of the dishes being taught as well as time that will be put into making these dishes from scratch.
How did you get started teaching?
I started teaching in my younger years as an elementary school teacher as well as a tutor. After that I have been teaching my children all that I know and raising them with all my knowledge.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with children from all walks of life. I use to be a teacher in India, then I use to teach art and math in my children's schools in California. I make sure to adapt my lessons and my style of teaching as per the students needs.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
Recently I catered 100 lunches for the heath care workers at my local UC Davis vaccine center. It was a great experience to be able to give back to the community.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
I would advise any student to ask the teacher what their skill set is and what pace the classes will be on.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
The student should ask if the teachers require ingredients or cookwear to be brought or will they be provided.
Another question is wether or not the teacher does one on one classes.
