About
Hello. My name is Lori Watkins. Cooking is my passion! I loved watching my mom cook as a child. I have had 2 cookbooks published and enjoy cooking for small crowds. I used to own and operate my own catering company. I often cook for my church. I get such joy out of cooking. I love it when I'm able to help a person or group of people achieve their goal in learning. It's also a lot of fun!
You can also host a cooking lesson as an event!
Mainly, I enjoy people eating and enjoying my food. The looks on their faces and the silence from enjoying my food!

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Over the telephone we can discuss the menu, how many people (students) and who will do the shopping. I prefer the student do the shopping that way they don't have to reimburse me for the food. It can be discussed, however. I charge $200/lesson for up to 4 students. We will determine a date, time and get ready to have fun, learn and eat!
I prefer to give lessons at the students home.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Have taken a few lessons but mainly experience from cooking for years and owning my catering company.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Minimum of $200 for up to 4 students ( not including food ) for 3 hours. After that a flat rate of $50 is added to the $200. Add $30/ person beyond 4 people.
How did you get started teaching?
People having tasted my food and reading my cookbooks wanted to learn from me.
What types of students have you worked with?
Adults and a few students that are autistic.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I was asked to give a cooking lesson at a home with a beautiful pool and backyard. There was a beautiful outdoor kitchen. I gave lessons to 6 adults. The weather was perfect. We made pan seared fresh Salmon steaks with a lemon caper cream sauce, Whipped Potatoes and steamed Asparagus. We had Raymond's Sourdough Bread with the meal. The setting was awesome, the students were having adult beverages and there was a lot of laughing and competing going on. So much fun!!
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Come hungry!
