Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Every person's experience, and knowledge, is unique, and requires analysis, before setting forth a plan.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
My mom was a jazz singer. I was born singing, started playing drums at three, piano at four, guitar at seven, clarinet at 10. I have studied formally at Mesa college, and Musicians Institute.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
$40 for a 40 minute lesson. I'm willing to negotiate any other terms. I have found that a half hour is just not enough, and an hour is usually too long. We will work on a specific lesson, then I will leave you to your practice. The more you practice, the better you will get, sooner. So, the frequency of your lessons will depend on how much you practice. If you are devouring everything I am teaching you, we can have more lessons per week. If it is taking you more time, once a week is enough.
How did you get started teaching?
At the request of students, or their parents.
What types of students have you worked with?
I am also a registered yoga teacher, and I have taught yoga and music to, young, old, male, female, homeless, disabled, foster children, and veterans.
One love, one heart, let's get together, and be all right. Bob Marley
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I saw my brother, and I got to hug him, and laugh with him.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Look no further, you found me.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Am I naturally driven to dedicate all of the time and energy it is going to take to accomplish this goal?
If you're going to do this no matter what, and no one is going to stop you, you have the natural drive to succeed. Practice, and only practice, make better. There is no perfect.
