About

Hi my name is Patty

I'm currently a pool manager but I miss my true passion teaching swimming lessons.

I enjoy working with all different swimming abilities and age groups. I get super excited when my students get excited about their progress big or small. It can be their sheepish grins or their big kool aid smile of success that keeps me motivated.

I believe every student processes information differently. So I like to have 2-3 different ways to teach one skill and see which suits my student the best. I relay swimming skills in progressions, which gives the student time to understand the stroke. (body placement, breath control and feel for the water)

I've been instructing for 30 years

I've worked pretty much everywhere for swim schools, community pools, non-profit organizations and ran classes in my back yard.

Certifications-

American Red Water Safety Instructor Trainer

American Red Water Safety Instructor

American Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor

Aquatic Facility Operator

Teaching students with Autism (Aqua Pros)

I enjoy the sense of accomplishment of my students tackling their fears by putting their faces into the water, the satisfaction of my students being able to freestyle without picking up their heads and not dragging their legs.

They acknowledge that they are becoming proficient in the skill that they were struggling with.

The little fist pumps, that they did it!!!

Mommy, mommy look what i can do now!!!

It take time, repetition, trust and patience

This is what teaching swimming lessons mean to me

Frequently asked questions

I usually ask alot of question regarding their past swimming lessons or if any lessons were taken.

I ask a little bit more information about the student,

Their personality, likes/dislikes, favorite foods/programs

I like to have some information so the first day doesn't seem so awkward or fake

On the first day I like to see what they can or can't do then add a few of my own skill assessments
