About

Students tend to stay with me longer than average due to my teaching style. I try to keep it fun while also encouraging the student to challege themselves. I love when I see the reaction of a student noticing that they have improved in one area or another.

Jeff has been teaching me mandolin for one month. I have progressed more with his instruction than I have in three months trying to learn through internet instruction.

Jeff does a good job of determining what the student is looking for and connecting lesson plans to the students goals.

I met Jeff in June of 2021 as a matter of last chance! I had started learning guitar in March 2020 when COVID lock-downs hit and used lessons.com to find an instructor.
I ended up with a solid musician (who was touring with a band) and tried for a year to pick things up. It was difficult. Although talented, the instructor was not the best at picking up flaws. I was stuck and getting nowhere.
My last chance was Jeff. He was about a mile down the road from my office and it was face-to-face! It was starting over, but I have learned many of the basics (e.g., blues progressions, strumming) and learning to read music!!! He teaches the fundamentals well.
Once you pick them up one-by-one, hell jam with you to show you how you can play with others! Besides the ABCs, hell keep it fun with pulling up a new song/challenge for you!
He is very positive and catches flaws without making one feel badly. I walk out always feeling like it was fun and Im ready to take on the next hurdle. Im on my way!!
    Thanks Jeff!!

I’ve been taking trumpet lessons from Jeff for 2 years and counting. Jeff was willing to take me on as an adult-beginner with no experience, and through his patient, tailored instruction I now play music from the Real Book, which I enjoy playing for my daughters. I’d also add that he has good taste in jazz music.

Jeff was very patient with my son and did a wonderful job explaining the pieces. I would highly recommend him to teach your son/daughter to play. He was also flexible when it came to challenging schedules.

I have been taking music lessons with Jeff for over eight years now, starting as a complete novice on the Electrical Bass, Acoustic Guitar, and currently the Ukelele. Jeff keeps me engaged and enthusiastic by sharing his technical knowledge and techniques in an easy-going manner while playing music I enjoy. Highly recommend Jeff as an instructor for people of all ages. —-Greg L.

    Frequently asked questions

Patience and dedication to getting the basics down are primary in the way I teach. Sure, I can show/teach you your favorite song, but that will only go so far. Learning the basic chords, rhythms, timing, and some reading will build a lifetime of enjoyment thru music. Getting the most out of you and your instrument of choice, as well as theory & harmony, scales/modes, ear training, sight-reading, etc. are all incorporated into the lessons depending on each student. Young and old, I have been teaching at Countrywood Music since 1980.

I started with trumpet in the fourth grade, establishing great reading skills through the years. Started guitar at 14 and had the pleasure of studying with some great teachers. Steve Sage, Dave Creamer and Bill Tapia. I've written songs and produced/performed on my own CD.  Have played in many local bands playing Blues, Rock, Top 40, and a Country Band playing Pedal Steel guitar.  Currently I preform solo.

Yes, it's $35 per half hours lesson. Online lessons are $30.

I've taught students of all ages.  from 4 ( a little too young ) to Seniors. Randy, one of my current students is 76  He loves playing. He started with no experience.
