About
Hello!
My name is dave and I'm a passionate, enthusiastic drum teacher because I LOVE drumming!
I provide Radical Hospitality and transformational drum lessons!!
I've been teaching for a really long time and since Skype was invented, I've been teaching worldwide!
I'm a professional drummer too! I play in bands regularly. I've been on 2 major record labels and my band even played on Star Search! Remember that show?? :)
I have many glowing reviews from current students, just ask and I'll send them!
Let's start drumming today! All you need are sticks and a chair to play on to begin!!!
I enjoy teaching and sharing all my knowledge with others and totally enjoy watching them "get it" and grow into awesome drummers and musicians.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
New students will begin to learn some tunes and grooves right away. I customize and tailor all my lessons to each individual student!
For my local students, you'll learn tunes quickly and get the opportunity to sit-in with my bands and other musician friends at open-mics and other regular, local venue performances!
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I've been drumming since 4 years old. I started on pots and pans (Thank you Mom and Dad!)
I studied with the late, great Gary Chester and he showed me the wonderful world of learning about drumming.
I've been teaching professionally for decades!
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Standard pricing is easy!
30 minute lessons via Skype are $20.
30 minute lessons in your home are $30
60 minute lessons are available, depending on the student's age and concentration level. We can discuss later.
How did you get started teaching?
Once after a performance, someone came up to me and asked me if I could show him how to "do that".
I was hooked!
What types of students have you worked with?
My youngest student was 4 years old. My 'most mature' student was 75.
I've worked with students with learning disabilities as well and love all my students.
Young, old, male or female...let's DRUM!
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
A recent event I am fond of? How about when my 21 year old daughter came for a surprise visit for the weekend on Christmas! :)
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Interview lots of teachers. You want a positive, energetic, enthusiastic, passionate-about-drumming-and-teaching teacher who can help encourage you and motivate you through the plateaus you're sure to encounter!
Your teacher should be available to you always! If you're struggling with your new lesson, your teacher should be able to send you a mini-video to show you how to get out of 'the mud'
:)
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Some questions students should have prepared might be:
Do I need to buy any drums or pads?
How often should I practice?
What music and musicians should I be listening to?
What if I don't like what we're learning?
You can ask me anything!
