About

Welcome — and thank you for visiting!

I’m genuinely looking forward to connecting with you. I work with swimmers of all ages and skill levels — from first-time learners to advanced athletes refining their strokes.

With over 25 years of professional and personal coaching experience, and a background as a national-level swimmer representing Southeast Asia, swimming has been a lifelong passion that continues to inspire my teaching every day.

💧 Lesson Approach

I offer personalized, private swim lessons at your pool — whether it’s your backyard or a heated community facility (apartment, condo, or townhouse, where permitted).

𝑳𝒐𝒐𝒌𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒇𝒐𝒓 𝒂𝒏 𝒊𝒏𝒅𝒐𝒐𝒓 𝒑𝒐𝒐𝒍 𝒅𝒖𝒓𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒄𝒐𝒍𝒅𝒆𝒓 𝒎𝒐𝒏𝒕𝒉𝒔 𝒐𝒓 𝒚𝒆𝒂𝒓-𝒓𝒐𝒖𝒏𝒅?
𝐍𝐨 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐛𝐥𝐞𝐦! If you don’t have access to a pool — especially an indoor one — I can suggest a nearby local indoor facility that’s ideal for your lessons. (Please note: an additional entrance fee is required for facility access.)

* Beginners & Intermediates: In-water, guided instruction designed to build confidence and foundational skills through gentle, step-by-step progression.

* Advanced Swimmers: A blend of in-water and deck-side feedback focused on stroke refinement, endurance, and performance training.

My teaching style emphasizes patience, encouragement, and clear communication, ensuring every swimmer feels supported, respected, and comfortable throughout each lesson.

⏱️ Recommended Session Lengths & Frequency

* Beginners & Intermediates: 30–45 minutes (up to 60 minutes depending on individual adaptation and commitment) in water ideally 82 °F or warmer

* Advanced Swimmers: Up to 2 hours for detailed technical or endurance work

* I can teach multiple sessions back-to-back (4–6 hours total) in pools maintained around 84–87 °F

* Young children or cool seasons: 87–89 °F water recommended for comfort and consistent progress

Lesson Frequency:
There’s no fixed schedule — it all depends on your short- and long-term goals. Some swimmers prefer weekly consistency for steady progress, while others focus on intensive periods of training to meet specific milestones. I’ll help you find the pace that best supports your goals and comfort level.

👥 Lesson Formats

* Private sessions offer the fastest, most individualized progress and focused attention.

* Semi-private sessions (for swimmers of similar age and skill level) encourage motivation and teamwork.

* Small-group training (3+ swimmers) is available for intermediate and advanced swimmers in team-style or skill-building formats.

📍 Pool Access & Travel

Most public pools and gyms restrict outside instruction. Selecting “I’m flexible” on your intake form means you either have access to a suitable pool or are open to traveling to a location that allows lessons.

I also travel outside Santa Clara County upon request (travel fee may apply) to teach at your preferred location.

🤝 Professional Standards & Privacy

Every interaction is handled with the utmost professionalism, respect, and confidentiality. Your privacy and comfort are always prioritized — from communication and scheduling to payments and lesson delivery.

If you’re requesting semi-private sessions, please include each swimmer’s age and skill level to ensure the best possible match.

I look forward to helping you — or your swimmer — build confidence, master technique, and truly enjoy the water in a safe, supportive, and uplifting environment.

— Jung

I worked under Jungs supervision for around 2-3 years as a swim instructor. He has shown himself to be an effective communicator when leading his swimming staff. He possesses amazing interpersonal communication skills when interacting with students, parents, and staff. I still remember how easy it was to approach him for help; he always made me feel comfortable with no judgment.
Jung has also demonstrated his innovative problem-solving abilities through his personalized training approach for each student. I can recall a specific instance when he noticed a student struggling with freestyle and immediately identified the mistake the student was making. He promptly showed me a couple of drills to assist the student in improving their freestyle technique. These drills differed from the standard curriculum, but Jungs creativity and experience in the field led him to achieve remarkable success and a breadth of knowledge.
Lastly, Jung is an exceptionally determined and dedicated individual. His unwavering commitment to the instructors and students at the swim school is evident. When he sets a goal, he relentlessly pursues it, regardless of any obstacles in his way. For instance, I observed him substituting for an instructor during one of my shifts, and he devoted considerable time to a struggling student. He consistently worked with the student individually, focusing on improving their stroke until he saw noticeable progress.
During my time at Star, I witnessed Jung Dangs effective communication, progressive problem-solving skills, and unwavering determination. I highly recommend Jung for any job due to his exceptional leadership and competence.
