About this pro

I experience the world through a creative eye. As a professional dancer,  choreographer and actor; I’ve been fortunate to celebrate our youth and others by coaching them in Performance Education for the last ten years. From my growth of being on film, tv and stage my guidance in fitness has always been a forefront but I take pride as a mentor shining light on mental health because it should be part of our nutrition. Simultaneously the tactical and technical relations of working in Fashion and Production has sharpen my vision to the steady dedication of a detailed oriented lens to bring the simple habit of awareness, including but not limited through; self-love, expand knowledge, develop skills and grow within. Today I work to improve, motivate and achieve the simple act of kindness through the art of listening by focusing on the wellbeing of our community. Let’s celebrate the process of our growth and not just the end goal. Be kind and Love. #Juanlove

As we connect and dissect the art, it allow us to grow within and share our common form of expression. As a mentor I celebrate the process and growth from the art understanding that gives us that yearning to excel.

Juan is a fantastic human being and an EXCELLENT dance instructor. My daughter has danced with many dance teachers over the years and Juan is at the top of her list. Her dance improved sooooo much while dancing with him. His skill level is off-the-hook and he pushes his students (in a good way) to have faith in their abilities to become better, more expressive dancers. He is kind, committed to his art, and an all-around good person. You really can’t ask for more than that!

Juan is a skilled instructor who uses his experience as a professional dancer to help dancers build fundamental dance skills. My daughter wasn’t getting sufficient technique training until she took classes with him. Within a few months of Dan I g she has had significant improvement in her form, her physical strength and her on stage performance presence. Juan is concerned with his students’ well being on a day to day basis and can recognize what kids need to be in the right mindset to learn. While he provides the strict technique that we value, he also takes the time to see how students are feeling and help them use their emotional strength to perform to the best of their abilities. He’s just fantastic.

FAQs

What is your typical process for working with a new student?

We start with a fundamental warm up and asses the areas where we need to focus on. Everyone is at different levels and we all learn in different ways so it's important for me truly understand how your motor skills and kinesiology connect to the steps. Later on we focus on building the vocabulary and creating a narrative. My goal is to build the knowledge of the art so in no time you can express yourself with poetry.

A very similar process with acting. We decipher what are strong points and what needs to be strengthen. We break down the basics 5 W's of Utah Hagen, Stanislavski & UCB(for Improv). We do some on camera training and develop the comfort and ease that every casting director wants to see when receiving submissions. We work on scene study, cold reading, monologue, character development & Improv. Understanding both techniques of tv vs. theater.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

Juan Toledo's training extends from working Professionally in Concert Dance to Musical Theater to Television. He also received training from Upright Citizens Brigade for Improv. Juan desires to celebrate, build endurance and showcase the passion from his student while letting them decide the discipline and growth that they want. His goal is always to offer the proper tools that can guide all of his students to an artistic platform, and is passionate about sharing his experiences. Professionally, he has been in various musicals such as The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas, Fiddler on the Roof, The Merry Widow and more! He’s worked for Disney Jr, Tr3s, Universal, HBO, Telemundo and Univision. He’s danced with City Ballet of Los Angeles, X:Animo, ACFCLA, Pasadena Civic Ballet, Creations Dance Theater, LA Unbound and Fanatix Dance Crew. Juan is eager to continue to share his artistry, experience and love of performance with each of his students. Today he works to improve, motivate and achieve the simple act of kindness through the art of listening by focusing on the wellbeing of our community. Let’s celebrate the process of our growth and not just the end goal. Be kind and Love. #Juanlove
