How did you get started teaching?
In 2009, Sarah Sebe was on ap ath to get her master's degree in Education, until a craigslist ad for swim lessons plunged her into the deep end of entrepreneurship. Sarah founded Sunsational Swim School as the sole instructor traveling from house to house in Los Angeles. Quickly she learned that parents were frustrated with the lack of progress in typical group lessons and were thrilled to see their children learn to swim in just weeks with her private swim instruction. Word spread and soon Sarah was overwhelmed with student's and the following year she began hiring experienced swimming instructors and expanded to service more areas in Southern California. Today, Sunsational Swim School has grown to service home and community pools in over 40 different metro areas and has a team of 2000+ Sunsational Certified Swim Instructors coast-to-coast!

What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Hiring the right teacher can make all the difference. Before making your selection, check for the following:
1) Find a Swim Instructor who is CPR/First Aid certified. In case of an emergency, knowing these life-saving techniques can mean the difference between a tragedy and learning experience.
2) Has formal teaching experience. Not all great swimmers make great swim teachers. Teaching is a skill of its own. We recommend that your swim instructor has at least two or more years of formal teaching expeirence. This ensures that the instructor is confident, knowledgeable and will have worked with a variety of students, which will translate to a better learning experience for you.
3) Check your swim instructor is fully insured. Many independent swim instructors have no insurance coverage, which can leave you vulnerable to major liability costs if an incident occurs. All Sunsational swim instructors are fully covered under our multi-million dollar general liability insurance.
4) Experience to meet your specific needs. Are you training for a triathlon, or is it your first time entering the pool in years? Make sure the instructor is experienced teaching the age, swim level, and your specific needs.
5) Vetted and background checked. This is particularly important if your swim instructor is coming to your home. You want someone you can trust. Ask for references you can speak with if you can't obtain a formal background check. Each Sunsational Swim Instructor must pass our rigurous hiring process and clear a formal background check before being hired.
