Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I first like to find out what their learning style is and also discover what their ultimate goal for their journey into the arts is. Then I can find a reasonable starting point so that I can cater to my students' needs.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have been an artist for most of my life and have taken various art lessons and classes through the course of my undergraduate and graduate studies. I also have had the experience of winning the commission of two large commercial/community arts projects under my belt.
How did you get started teaching?
I have been teaching since 2002 and always knew that teaching would be a part of my life. I look at it as a way of giving back to a world that provided me with some phenomenal teachers over the years.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with students as young as three years old and as old as 60; with the special needs population and gifted and talented persons as well.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
I would advise students who are looking for an art instructor to keep an open mind about their own abilities; everyone has some artistic talent and it is my job to help you find yours.
