About
Stage Native is a boutique voice studio in Denver, CO, serving adult and teen musicians in any location via Zoom. Stage Native singers are a mix of beginners or experienced musicians. All Stage Native singers study vocal health and breath support for a lifetime of healthy and expressive singing, and from there, lessons vary significantly from person to person. Depending on your goals, you develop skills like songwriting, vocal riffing, music theory, vocal range expansion and control, mix voice, microphone technique, stage presence, recording, and more. The studio is limited to 15 clients per week, ensuring that each client receives a high level of individualized attention during and between lessons. Rachel maintains a balance between teaching and her work as a musician, staying up to date on the music industry so Stage Native clients are always getting the most current info.
I love the variety of experience levels that Stage Native singers bring to their lessons, from touring musicians to novice singers. We are each born with a unique instrument, and my goal is to help each voice client grow in their ability to express themselves in a way that is healthy, artistic, and confident.
As a gigging musician, recording artist, and songwriter, my professional life as a singer significantly influences my teaching. I work with experienced singers to maintain vocal health on tours, and I work with beginners on gaining the confidence to step on the stage at their first open mic.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
All lessons are held virtually over Zoom throughout Covid - most students have come to prefer online lessons so they can sing from the comfort of their home and avoid drive time!
New students can meet with me for a complimentary intro to get a feel who I am as a teacher before booking your first lesson. If you decide to move forward, you complete a brief questionnaire about your vocal goals so I can prepare for your first lesson, tailored specifically to you.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Rachel is a formally-trained (classical, jazz, and contemporary commercial music) vocalist, songwriter, and vocal coach.
Rachel studies commercial contemporary music (CCM) with Kate Emerich, B.M., M.S., CCC-SLP. She previously studied classical and jazz voice under Dr. Debra Detwiler at Goshen College, where she also trained in music theory and classical guitar.
Rachel has performed at Colorado venues such as Cervantes Masterpiece Ballroom, the Fox Theatre, and Red Rocks.
Rachel has recorded two studio albums (under the moniker Raven Jane) and fronts the Janis Joplin tribute band Flower in the Sun. She has recorded session vocals and has been a guest performer with numerous local and national acts. She sings at weddings and other special events with the Diamond Empire Band and the Spotlight Band.
