What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I offer private tutorial sessions either in combination with the online school access or as a stand alone. This can be in my kitchen or yours. We can cover one topic each session. I can guide you through a personal program or just do one class.
You might study with one session on your topic or choose the SNC curriculum that works to inspire and train students in making great dishes that they like. NO recipes. Learn to cook instead.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
We have been offering this program for more than 30 years. The last 10 have been both live in studios and online is student's own kitchen. So it has a lot of development and history with much success.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Private demonstration classes cost $62 a person which includes ingredients. This is a 1.5 - 2 hour session.
How did you get started teaching?
In 1983 I helped establish an educational demo program at Alfalfa's market. They asked me to open a cooking school for them and so I did. But instead, they opened a second store in Denver. So I opened The School of Natural Cookery. It's been going ever since.
What types of students have you worked with?
Our training is a professional level, but we teach all level beginners and chefs with traditional training.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
The School of Natural Cookery is a premiere resource of authentic culinary training. Because we don't teach cooking by using recipes, our students LEARN TO REALLY COOK. You will want to be excited about learning to create dishes that you will like, love, and learn from. You will know what goes right and what goes wrong in your dishes. All the ingredients we use are whole, plant-based, and healing. We have a store for you to find unique ingredients and tools and it grows a little larger each year.
