My name is Taylor Harris and I am a Red Cross certified lifeguard and swim instructor. I have been teaching swim lessons, year round since 2014. I have taught ages 6 months to 90 years in the Swim America and Red Cross curriculum. I've enjoyed every minute of it. Swimming is not only a life skill, but learning can be a confidence builder and an overall good time. That's my favorite part ! I teach full time because I know that I'm not only preventing fatal accidents but I also am helping my students reach their goals and believe in themselves.

It is imperative for me to find out the comfort level of the student within the first few minutes of the lesson. A student who is afraid, no matter how afraid, will be very unwilling to learn if pushed too far too quickly. A student who is fearless, might push themselves too far too quickly and end up with a fear of the water.
Next, it is almost as important that I establish a trusting relationship with the student. Water can be intimidating, and if the student does not trust or like me very much they can, again, be very unwilling to learn.
All of my training with teaching lessons began with hands on experience. I co-taught for a summer under an instructor with 20+ years experience and continued to take every lessons as an opportunity to learn even more. This method has taught me that no swimmer is the same, so my methods have to evolve with my pupil.
For multiple lessons per week, $35.
For single or biweekly lessons, $50.
This price includes travel related fees and up to 1 hour of instruction time.
I began teaching out of curiosity and a love of children at my local YMCA after I became lifeguard certified.
