Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I assess the person depending on what service i am providing then (i.e. self defense, body transformation, improving genetal health) and from there depending on where the Client is at physically will determine the stage and intensity at which i begin them.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I hold a biology degree from GWU college. From there i worked at Golds gym in DC, where i acquired a Personal training certification from the NCCPT. I now train at Hard Training Club located in NW DC. I am a professional MMA ( Mixed Martial Arts) fighter. A licensed/teaching/practitioner of many Street Self Defense systems and martial arts practices.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
$50 per session with a 6 session minimum usually..
How did you get started teaching?
Physical fitness is my life. Plain and simple. I've been doing martial arts since 4. And fighting MMA since 20. I've always loved this. It got even more defined when at the age of 9 i started to get overweight until the age of 16 i was 250 plus lbs. And only 5'9. I looked at myself and began crying. From then inn i made a Change. A COMMITMENT to myself. That i was going tip become the beast i wanted to see myself as and the one i wanted the world to see. Almost a decade later Im well on my journey. I'm not there yet and hopefully i never get there fully. The journey to "perfection" is the most fun. I LOVE what i do
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with customers across the spectrum. Special needs, little children, folks coming back from surgery, regular everday people just looking to turn their lives around.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I had a young lady working eith me for two months. She had a one point broken both her legs and she didn't think she could ever be physically right again within 2 months and her doing station exercises for boxing rounds of 3 minutes consistently.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Look for someone who has been in your shoes. Dont just hire someone who has great reviews because the football player you hire today may not know or undetstand the struggle you are going through to change yourself. Biologically he/she may. But to have someone eho has suffered what you are and BEATEN it on your side coaching you, theres no better trusting bond
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
I think the most important question we need to ask ourselves is am "I committed to this change" because physical fitness is a lifestyle change not just something you do and drop at a whim
