About
I am longtime high school tennis coach and college squash coach who has devoted the bulk of his life to tennis. Whether it is playing, watching or of course coaching, tennis is what inspires me.
As for my education, I have a bachelors degree from George Washington University, a master's from Vanderbilt and am a Florida certified English teacher. I also have a over a decade of classroom teaching experience and currently teach at Miami-Dade College.
I have been a professional educator and tutor for the past 15 years. Originally, I began by teaching SAT English and Math for the Princeton Review. My length and range of teaching experiences have provided me with a wealth of knowledge and expertise in both subject assimilation and standardized testing instruction. I feel extremely confident in my ability to help students feel more adept with both the content of and strategic approach to standardized tests. In addition, I have worked with over 50 students from various schools in the Miami area on writing their college essays and helping them with related components of the college application process.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
In tennis and tutoring, find out where the student is at and where he/she wants to go. Make sure the student feels comfortable with my approach and ready to improve. I then continue to build the skill base through repetition, greater appreciation for the task at hand and working with their strengths to offset the weaknesses on a regular basis.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am a certified Engish educator, English and Math tutor, ESL certified and a longtime tennis coach.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Tennis lessons run from $40/50 an hour depending on how far the travel time is, whereas academic tutoring is from $50-70 an hour depending on travel and the task at hand
How did you get started teaching?
I have been coaching and playing tennis since college. As for classroom teaching, I began with tutoring at the Princeton Review and evolved into a full-time classroom teacher after I got my masters degree in English education
What types of students have you worked with?
For tennis, all ages, youth from 10-20 and adults of al ages.
Now that I teach ESL in addition to regular classroom English, I find myself working many adults over 30 as well as well as a host of high school and college students.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I am extremely fond of current events, literature and all professional tennis touraments.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Have trust. Although all teachers have different styles, we pretty much have the same objective, to helo our clients improve in the subject/sport at hand as well as find greater appreciation for it
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
How much do you like the subject you teach? How have you improved your teaching style? What should I devote significant time to trying to improve and what should I essentially choose to ingore.
