Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
We like new students to visit our studio for a complimentary lesson and tour of our facility and program. We recognize that learning to dance is not a simple decision for most people... and it is confusing sometimes to pick the right program, dance styles, private or group lessons, etc.
At the BlueBallRoom Dance Studio we run things more like a club and encourage new friendships and fun through dancing.
New students are taught in layers... first the feet, the hold, the musical timing, the lead/follow until the package is complete and you look like a natural dancer moving comfortably to the music.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Instructors all participate in ongoing training in (1) dance techniques and (2) teaching techniques. Most hold multiple certifications and college degrees. We work as a team to ensure our students learn in the quickest easiest way.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Group Lessons are offered in a 4-week Series. Two beginner series are taugh each month.
Tuition = $70 for single / $125 for couple
Additional discounts for private lesson members.
Private lessons range from $395 for a 5 lessons package with multiple Bonus features of membership; including: free practice time, admission to the club dance parties, and a free exercise class.
This is standardized pricing for all new students and a great way to decide if this is your thing...
What types of students have you worked with?
Dancing attracts all types of people... as everyone generally enjoys moving to music. We work with Singles, Couples, those that are new to the area looking to connect; those that need more fitness; those preparing for a wedding dance, cruises, or special event; and those just looking for a new hobby - that want to participate in life, instead of just watch dancing on TV.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
Our Weekly Club Dance Parties are a great way to tryout the new dance skills, make new friends and enjoy life.
Also very proud of the annual Dance Cruise that has developed from students that have become friends at the studio. Next one is in March-2018 and 14 dancers are going.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Avoid the independent operators that aren't part of team environment in a studio. The learning will be very scattered and the purpose of learning (to socialize and enjoy dancing) will be missed.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Do you have any special events with dancing on your calendar? If so, what type of music will they be playing? That is where you should start - learning the things you will need soon.
