I have been certified to teach tennis with the Professional Tennis Registry for 28 years. I am certified at the Professional level. I started pee wee tennis for children ages 6 to 11 at a recreation club in Va. in 1995. I am currently the varsity boys and girls coach at the Friends Select School in Philadelphia. I coached a young man named Rishi Raghav who was the boys 14 and under Middle States regional Champion with the USTA in 2018. I started with Rishi when he was 9 years old. I have also coached many high school players who have become #1 players for their school and well as a young lady (Carin Morgan) who got a full scholarship to USC after working with me for 3 years!

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
It depends on whether they are a beginner, intermediate player or a the advanced level.
It also depends on if they goal is to just learn the game well enough to just play with friends, if they wan to compete better on their high school team or college teams or maybe they want to compete in Usta tournaments. I have years of experience at all of those levels
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I got certified by Dennis Van see Meer who trained Billie Jean King and started a tennis university in Hilton Head SC. Richard Williams (who trained Venus and Serena) endorsed my tennis instruction DVD. I have been a high school varsity team head coach for the last five years. For 4 years is coached Rishi Raghav, the 14 and under Usta Middle States 2018 Champion. I also coached Carin Morgan for three years prior to her receiving a full scholarship to USC.

My lessons are $45 per hour
How did you get started teaching?
I started teaching my kids. One got a college scholarship for tennis, the other won 2 gold medals in the junior olympics and a national championship in table tennis. People would see me teaching them and ask me if I could teach their kids. After a couple years of that I decided to get certified.
What types of students have you worked with?
Beginner 5 year olds to a 75 year old playing the Usta Nationals who gained 52 points in the rankings with my training.

What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Be ready to have fun working on improving you tennis game.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
The most important questions I can think of is ...
1. What goals to I have for what I'm about to do.
2. And if they have already taken some lessons but aren't happy with their progress...have I done what to teacher asked me to do to improve?
