About this pro

I am a Red Cross Certified Water Safety Instructor and Lifegaurd with CPR and First Aid certifications. I began teaching swim lessons in 1994 and have taught children from 6 months to 17 years as well as adults.

I moved to Boynton Beach at the end of 2018 and am now offering lessons to all ages in and around Boynton Beach.

I offer parent/child lessons for ages 6 months to 2 years; helping children and parents both become more safe and comfortable in the water.

Ages 2-5 I teach the beginning fundamentals of swimming and water safety. Children learn about beginning breathing, floating, leg and arm actions and more.

Ages 6-16 I help children develop more advanced skills building on their exisitng foundation leading to the ability to pursue competitive swimming, junior guards or other aquatic programs

For adults I can customize any combination of programs to help achieve swimming and water safety goals of your choice.

With consistent lessons and practice time I can help nearly anyone learn the front crawl, back crawl, breast stroke, elementary back stroke, butterfly as well as other less common strokes including the trudgen, the survival stroke, sculliying and others. Additionally, I can teach diving at any age and skill level to become advanced enough for high springboard diving platform diving, competitive platform entries and more.

I’m passionate about seeing my students gain skills and confidence in and around the water.

Ryan was very sweet and showed so much patience. Our daughter is cautious of new people and Ryan was able to build a strong bond from the beginning. She still talks about him and uses his techniques to this day! Thank you Ryan!

Ryan taught my 3 year old how to swim! My son started lessons when he was 3 years two months and finished up two months later. I signed up for lessons because my son was a bit fearless/ reckless in the water. Ryan taught him how to be safe in the pool. For instance now if he jumps in, on purpose or by mistake, my son knows how to swim back to the wall and climb out on his own. Ryan is a fantastic swim coach and quickly established trust and great rapport with my mama’s boy. He incorporated fun into every lesson and every drill. Ryan used my son’s first love- super heroes- to keep him engaged and working hard in the pool. Ryan was flexible with my schedule/ weather, tenacious when it came to skill development, and adapted to my son’s needs/ personality- really a great experience!

I hired Ryan for my sons first birthday party where we would have a lot of kids at play for a pool party. Ryan showed up an hour early with lots of fun and safe pool toys for the kids and in a very professional and safe manner worked the event. He was extremely attentive and set all the parents who were at the event at ease knowing their children were extra safe and cared for under his watchful eye. I would highly recommend his services and have also planned to utilize his knowledge and skills to teach my now 13 month old swim lessons. We look forward to working with Ryan again.

He was great with my daughter and her friend. He has a nice way of keeping the kids focused and still letting them enjoy the water and swim lesson. My daughter (5 ) solidified her skills and I’m very comfortable with her in the water. Her friend (a boy) was not a swimmer at all and in one week he was going across the pool. I would highly recommend him.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?

I always assess the current skills to make sure the lessons will be tailored properly. Once I have an understanding we then begin working to develop existing skills to be performed best while adding new skills to enhance overall swimming capabilities.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I am certified by the Red Cross as the following:

Water Safety Instructor

First Aid

How did you get started teaching?

I began teaching as a teenager as I loved swimming.

I am am semi retired now and teach part time as I enjoy seeing people of all ages increase their confidence and capabilities in and around aquatic environments.
